Installation

Install Vleer on Linux, macOS and Windows

Vleer ships stable releases and nightly builds. Nightly builds get new features first and may be less stable.

Linux

Install with the shell script:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/vleerapp/vleer/main/scripts/install.sh | sh

Pass --system to install to /usr/local instead of ~/.local.

AppImage

Download the ARM64 or x64 AppImage.

No self-updates

AppImages do not self-update.

AUR

yay -S vleer-git

Homebrew

brew install vleerapp/vleer/vleer
brew install vleerapp/vleer/vleer-nightly

The first formula installs stable releases, the second nightly builds.

macOS

Download the DMG for Apple silicon or Intel.

Unsigned app

Vleer isn't signed yet. After copying it to Applications, run this in a terminal, otherwise macOS will refuse to open it:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Vleer.app

Homebrew

brew install --cask vleerapp/vleer/vleer
brew install --cask vleerapp/vleer/vleer-nightly

Windows

Download the installer for ARM64 or x64.

If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen appears, select More info, then Run anyway.

Verifying downloads

Releases are signed with minisign. Verification is optional:

minisign -Vm <downloaded_file_name> -P RWRh5nLZjKooTcjP0/fbHq6xIgU9c+QhLjaVPg6gqWv1MuNRV1RWgu28

Updating

On macOS and Windows, Vleer checks for updates on startup and can update itself. On Linux only installs from the shell script self-update; AppImage, AUR and Homebrew installs are updated through their own tooling. You can switch between the stable and nightly channels in Configuration.

Every download link above redirects through the Vleer API, so it always points at the latest release.
